As the kids flooded the hallways of DuJardin school this morning, you could hear the giggles and the excitement. Everybody settled into their classrooms and the magic erupted. Teachers started building relationships, going over expectations, and establishing classroom culture. The students were all smiles!
So... now that we're in our second year of 1:1 implementation, what's different? Well, actually a lot. Last year, getting the Chromebooks was a HUGE thing. Don't get me wrong, they're awesome, but this year, it wasn't a big ordeal. They were foreign to the staff and students in the fall of 2015. Everybody had to learn the basics of the devices and then figure out how to teach and learn- 21st Century style. That was a lot to do, but our teachers and kids did it. In fact, they rocked it. This year, the Chromebooks are just part of learning. They're no longer something additional, novel, and prized. Rather, they have become a natural element of the classroom that nobody thinks twice about. How awesome is that? After all, this is the world we live in. We hope our students can successfully navigate through whatever waters come their way with technology by their side. They will be quite the communicators, creators, critical thinkers, and collaborators... just you wait. The 2016-2017 school year is going to be the best yet. More to come soon :)
